Australia is a touristic country that receives many international visitors. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics in the 2018-2019 financial year Australia received about 9.3 million visitors from abroad, the largest number of tourists ever registered in the country, and I can honestly say, that one of Australia's greatest attractions is its wine industry. Wine Australia is a government authority that was created solely to promote and regulate the Australian wine industry. The agency is investing $750,000 Australian dollars in improvements to the online platform “Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW)”, developing wine-related features plus helping wineries to market their products more effectively and increasing their online exposure.

I could spend hours writing about wine tourism here in Australia, since the country is so vast, but here is an overview of the most prestigious wine regions: Western Australia - Margaret River about 95 wineries receive tourists in the region; Victoria - Yarra Valley has stunning scenery and sophisticated cold-climate wines; New South Wales - Hunter Valley is among Australia's oldest wine regions.

The vast majority of Australia’s most recognised vineyards and wineries are located around the city of Adelaide, South Australia. Clare Valley is considered the capital of Riesling in Australia, Adelaide Hills produces high quality Sauvignon Blanc and McLaren Vale has won applause for producing a wide variety of wines, however, it was Barossa Valley that put Australia on the international map with its extraordinary Shiraz.
